Local browser OCR for Polish and English PDFs

Folio is a public web app with local document processing. Your PDF and recognized text stay on your device while you recognize, review and export a scanned book.

What happens to my PDF?

Selecting a PDF makes it available to the app in your browser. OCR, editing and file generation run locally. Finished results and edits can be saved in this browser so adding the same PDF restores them. Use “Clear saved results” to remove that local history.

Does local OCR work without the internet?

Internet access is used to load the app and OCR tools and to process export purchases. Local document processing does not mean guaranteed offline operation. Checkout uses an amount, currency and random conversion identifier rather than your PDF, file name or recognized text.

Which languages and engines are supported?

Folio supports Polish and English. PaddleOCR is the default engine; Tesseract is available in the recognition settings. Both run locally. Recognition quality depends on the scan; review the output before exporting.

What are the limits?

The app accepts PDFs up to 150 MB and 600 PDF pages. Processing time and memory use depend on your device and settings. Higher accuracy can take more time and memory. Keep the conversion tab open and try a smaller page range if a large book overwhelms your device.

What does it cost?

OCR, preview and editing are free. One export purchase per document includes EPUB and PDF: PLN 5.00, USD 1.99 or EUR 1.99. Check current payment availability in the app before relying on downloads.
