Convert scanned PDF books to EPUB

Folio converts scanned PDF books into EPUB using OCR in your browser. EPUB text reflows to fit your e-reader or reading app, so you can adjust font size without zooming into a page image.

How to convert a scanned PDF to EPUB

  1. Open Folio and choose a PDF from your device.
  2. Run recognition. Both OCR engines process your document locally; Polish and English are supported.
  3. Review the recognized text, fix mistakes and check which pages and illustrations are included.
  4. Set the book title and author, then purchase the document export to download EPUB and PDF.

What will the EPUB contain?

The export contains recognized text and your edits, with optional selected illustrations. Folio handles scan rotation and facing pages. It does not translate or paraphrase sentences. Complex tables, footnotes and chapter structure can need manual review; it does not automatically reconstruct a publisher's chapter index.

Is EPUB better than PDF for reading?

Choose EPUB when you want text to fit a small screen and respond to reader font settings. Choose Folio's text PDF for a fixed reading layout. Neither output reproduces the exact original scan layout.

What does it cost?

OCR, preview and editing are free. One export purchase per document includes EPUB and PDF: PLN 5.00, USD 1.99 or EUR 1.99. Check current payment availability in the app before relying on downloads.
